by our company Wood Design Rides.
This ride has never been built since this kind of carousel had his first opening for the last time before or around 1900.
The exploring of such salon carousels on traveling fairs was ended between somewhere 1945 and 1950.
There are a few examples left such as the ”stoomcarrousel” Efteling and Europa Park Germany as well as some that are preserved in museum

Our family member Dries Giezen was an expert in designing, crafting and painting these salon carousels, from whom you can see an artist impression from his hand on the left.
It is this kind of Salon carousel that WD rides is creating at the moment for Plopsa comic station in Antwerp, Belgium, although at a smaller scale as the antique existing ones were in size.
The one WD designed and built is only 6 meters in diameter, as the indoor space was limited.
Now we have 2 rocking animals abreast, while our bigger model can have 3 abreast.
Still the design and the movement with crankshafts for the animals from beneath the carousel’s revolving floor is typical for such a salon carousel.
The salon carousel is not a suspended carousel, but a floor running by wheels on the outside, like our turntable carousels.
The horses and animals in this case are all wood carved as in ancient days.
I believe this will be a unique copy of the exiting and dynamic steam carousels that had given so much riders great pleasure and this new ride in Art Nouveau style will certainly bring back the magic and ambiance of such a, unique and enchanting hand crafted, piece of art.
The premiere of this fantastic ride will be in November 2021 at Plopsa comic station Antwerp.
The Wood carved animals can also be made from fiberglass on client’s request.
All other diameters available.
